Volunteers Got Pampered! … A repeat!

“If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!” – this was one of the comments I received from the survey I ran after last year’s Pampering Event for SOWINS Volunteers.  And so, we did it again!  but this time with a little variation.

Obviously, moving the event to a bigger venue was a relief in terms of space planning and accommodation.   Working with the Penticton Ramada team, is a breathe of fresh air!  The Ramada team assured us that our event is more than anything else, their event as well!  With that guarantee from the venue and caterer themselves, it tells us that they will help make things happen for us in order to achieve our goals successfully.

Organizing the same theme of the event for the second time seemed easier said than done.  While it is the same concept, new ideas were infused so volunteers (attendees) have something to look forward to.

The spacious Ramada Courtyard Ballroom was transformed into a subtle and sensory Spa Oasis and Lounge.  Tranquil and almost sedating New Age Spa Music from Satellite Radio was played in the background to complement the therapy treatments, solace a soul and revivify spirits.

Spa professionals invited to the SOWINS Volunteer Appreciation Event were given their individual space, not only to showcase their products, but also to comfortably accommodate the volunteers for rejuvenation.

White sheers and draperies were hung separating each spa providers’ area and at the same time creating a cozy atmosphere while volunteers indulge in a massage, manicure, reflexology, make up or henna tatoo!

The ballroom opens to an ethereal lounge space with white ottomans and footstools so volunteers can relax or just mere converse with colleagues (about how rewarding it is to be a SOWINS volunteer!), while waiting for their turn to be pampered.

Aroma candles and white Gerbera daisies were used as accents to soften the mood and space and to further induce a calming effect.

Faced with limited budget, Ramada planned an hors d’ouevres menu that are filling and fitting for the occasion.

Overall, the SOWINS Volunteer Appreciation Event came through the very core of its purpose – a warm fuzzy tribute to its dedicated and hardworking volunteers!  After all, they deserve the pampering!

At the end of the pampering session, SOWINS volunteers were awarded with a Certificate of Recognition for their invaluable contribution to the society.  A star cookie was an added bonus!

This event would have not been possible, if not for support of the team of amazing spa professionals that provided relaxation and rejuvenation treatments to SOWINS volunteers.

Round of applause goes to my volunteers for that event as well.  They distributed warm face cloths and survey forms all throughout the event,  they served as expediters for the Spa Professionals, and most of all they made sure that everyone’s spa experience was at its best!
